FISHER OF MEN

Artist Statement

I sometimes wonder about Jesus as a baby and a child, and about Mary simply as his mother. We know her as a sacred figure, but I am drawn to the ordinary tenderness of her experience—the way she may have held him, watched him sleep, and loved him before the world knew who he would become.

This imagined nursery scene surrounds the infant Christ with a kind of visual lullaby: men and angels fishing, whimsical sea creatures, and mermaids drifting across the wall. Each image quietly points toward the life ahead of him—the calling to gather, to love, to feed.
