I am a relatively new painter and my body may be aging but I rarely notice. I've always been an old soul with a young heart. Although I can still feel the visceral memory of the humid Midwestern summer days of my childhood, when time seemed to slow to a torturous standstill,  I'm also aware of how quickly the years pass.  Sometimes it hits me - how has life moved so fast?

I feel an urgent need to learn in the Now. I want to explore as many technical aspects of the visual arts as I can, so I can better translate what I see in my mind’s eye and share it . I find beauty in the brightest parts of our spirit and in the darkest corners of our souls.  Our extraordinary earth offers a bounty of beauty no brush can truly replicate, but the attempt is deeply rewarding.

I love experimenting through watercolor, oils, pastels, charcoal, and pencil. Each medium gives me another way to observe, interpret, and respond to the world.

Beauty grounds me.  I need to laugh and notice the strange, unexpected absurdity of life. I need to create something every day, even if it is imperfect or temporary. And I want my grandchildren to know that they can create—and re-create—themselves whenever and however they choose.

This is why I make art.

Lisa lives in Denver with her beloved, Trevor. They share a combined family of four wonderful children and two spectacular grandchildren, and many loved pets.
