Oil on Linen, 14 × 18in
Exhibitions:Colorado Governor's Show 2024
Artist's Statement:
This painting is a celebration of both theme and form, inspired by a joyful Easter morning spent watching my nieces gather eggs. I was captivated by the theatricality of the moment, and excited by the compositional possibilities of the rabbit masks and reaching branches.
The work explores the balance between abstraction and representation. I wanted to see how far I could push the design and shapes without losing the connection to the real-world event or overpowering the tender, joyful moment between the girls. The result is a piece that captures the essence of a cherished memory through a playful and dynamic interplay of form and color.
